Meet The Nidderdale Llamas |
|
'Nidderdale Llamas are a great team of currently 7 trekking llamas, 1 in training and one alpaca’! | Harry is our Chief Llama - Well at least he thinks he is! Being seven years old he likes to think he knows it all and can be very cheeky! He loves attention and enjoys meeting new people. Harry was an excellent trekking llama, however he is now retired from trekking as he has problem in one of his leg joints. Harry himself is very upset at not been able to go out trekking, but he's a happy chap being groomed by children at birthday parties and loves visiting the shows and some shops! | | Morgan - Half brother to Harry and is also seven years old, (a day older than Harry)! Morgan has a lovely gentle nature and takes his trekking very seriously. He knows his job, loves going out and takes it all in his stride. He is quite a tall fella and likes to be walked by tall people! We think this is because he prefers to be able to relate to humans when their at his head height, so he can keep his eye on them and fully sus people out! Morgan is quite a 'posh' llama, very choosy about his food and has a 'snooty' feel about him. | | Jack - 4 yrs old and already been on TV!! A great character, serious about his trekking and knows all the Health & Safety pre-talk as he does the demonstration! He enjoys taking the lead where possible and is happy to walk with anyone, children or adults he loves everyone. He enjoys posing for photos and just loves life! He shows this by always having his tail in the air! Everyone who takes him out has such a laugh as he loves getting up to tricks around trees & bushes! | | Ike -Nearly 4yrs old, the current teenager of the bunch! Ike can be very laid back, likes to stroll as opposed to 'trek' and some days he can be very mischievous. We would compare IKE to a moody teenager who either likes to be in front of the TV or down the street causing havoc! He is very dramatic with his expressions and long coat, he should be a filmstar really! We love him to bits and everyone who takes him out thinks he's brill! | | Ted -‘Ted is home bred and is now 2 years old. Ted has a fantastic relaxed temperament and is very easy going. He will relax the most nervous person and is brill with children. Ted loves to nussle at hats, he would never think of using teeth, but simply his lips to check out that hat, watch he doesn’t pinch it though! Since our two younger llamas arrived, Ted has grown up much more and he is now pack trained which he is very proud of. He always has a good stretch when his pack is put on, as if to say 'Look at me, I'm all grown up'! | | Brand - Also known as Mr Grumpy! - Brand is an alpaca who thinks he's a llama! Very rarely spotted with a happy face around humans, but when he's with his llama buddies in the field he's very content. Brand doesn't do trekking, not his thing at all. He will lead about around the farm, but he knows his limits and displays these when he's had enough by simply lying down! | | DAssett – Our largest llama and full of character. Standing at 5’ 8’’ head height, he is a gentle giant and great fun to take out trekking. DAssett always leads, there is no chance of anyone else getting in front! He is 6 years old and well travelled. At 16mths old he did some PR in the centre of London and also paraded through the middle of Birmingham. He then spent two years relaxing in Aberdeenshire, before settling here in Yorkshire and enjoying his favourite occupation of trekking. | | | | | Chester - Now nearly 2 yrs old and in fact related to Ike, although he is much younger and smaller he is actually Ike’s uncle! He has a very sweet nature, always willing to please. After learning to be haltered and led in and out with the others he thinks he is important and thoroughly enjoys it. Being quite brave for his size and age, he now treks out very happily with children and adults. He may never carry a pack as his fleece is very long, but that doesn't matter, the other boys can do that for him! | | Echo – A little larger than his friend Chester,he is just 18mths old. Echo is Jack’s nephew and does display some similar characteristics! Learning along with Chester to lead in and out he is very interested in following the older boys around and copying their behaviour. Echo also loves to play in the field, skipping and jumping around showing off his lovely white fleece. |
